BOND.AGE [bon.dij]- the state or practice of being physically restrained, as by being tied up, chained, or put in handcuffs, for sexual gratification.
Now, the term may scare most of the rural American population, but for many it's becoming a growing infatuation with their inner sexual being and the main subject of multiple fantasies whatever they may be. It's also crossed the lines into fashion. Bondage may not seem like it could be paired in the world of couture, but it has. The dictionary definition that defines it may be a little off key. But bondage is usually characterized by whips, chains, leather and sub categorized by the descriptions tight, rough, and edgy. All can be perceived and applied to high end looks.
So the question is
IS HISTORY FINALLY REPEATING ITSELF?
Are the designers of today taking inspiration (naughty and nice) from the legends of the past?
When talking about this particular subject, only one familiar person comes to mind..

The original queen of pop herself, Madonna. Not only is she always known for pushing the racy limits of music with her wild personality, she's also known for being a trend setter by the millions. She's started and finished many of the major fashion moments we've seen over the last 30 years. She's quite the freak and really publicized and showed early characteristics of fashion inspired by bondage. Now close to 20 years later, we're seeing many models strut the catwalks for designers showing the same references that once SHOCKED the nation. Take a minute to time travel back to the days of her first albums and music videos.

Human Nature - 1995
Over the years she familiarized the world, with the once very sheltered topic by various roles and acts within her music videos and over the years people and artists have taken inspirations from her work and created their modern and poetic versions for the everyday world.
It's nice to see non fashion subjects being interpreted into clothing/experiments.
Here is a look of how bondage has influenced high fashion-

Thanks to a future form of fashion analysis called Trend Forecasting, researchers study and predict future aspects for seasons to come. They analyze everything from color to texture, to silhouettes and fabric. They spend numerous weeks pulling together a detailed book of reference for designers.
From editorials to runway, a chosen set of styles each season are identified and quickly displayed by many designers simultaneously...this is how a trend is started.
FINAL QUESTION ABOUT BONDAGE GEAR AS A DESIRED LOOK:
Should sex and fashion stay seperate? Or will the walls of many acts/fantasies soften and become upcoming thesis' for the future of fashion?
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
